As reported by the Adelaide Now - The Advertiser, Tuesday, 12 June 2007, a planned suburban retail complex is set to become Australia’s first “green” shopping centre. The Fairview Green project is being used by the Green Building Council of Australia as a pilot study to further develop Green-Star rating tools for shopping centres across Australia. Features of the complex will include energy-efficiency objectives such as reduced greenhouse gas emissions and pollution, maximised use of natural sunlight, water conservation and reduced consumption of natural resources. Work is expected to begin by the end of July, 2007, and the site will include a supermarket, 20 specialty stores and two-levels of car parking. For more details visit the original article here.
